Internships

Internships at Whole Circle Farm

Life on the Farm

Our historic farmhouse affords family style housing for up to four full-time farm interns. All interns live on the premises and participate in household tasks as well as helping in many aspects of farm management. Internships include informal education, room and board, a small stipend and monthly participation in CRAFT meetings at regional farms.

Interns often choose to take on projects or focus on areas such as livestock care, CSA gardening, etc… In the past, special projects have included Biodynamic principles, cut flower marketing, chicken (broiler and layer) management, pastured beef/pork, rotational grazing, field crop management, CSA management, restaurant marketing, preserving… Do you have a creative farm business idea you’d like to pursue? Be sure to ask if time and resources are available.

Supplemental Educational Resources

Many of our interns utilize other regional support programs for beginning farmers. These include:

  • CRAFT Ontario (The Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training in Ontario): an informal, member-driven organization made up of more than a dozen southern Ontario organic farms.
  • FarmStart provides specialized training, and encourages new farmers to engage in entrepreneurial strategies that creatively turn challenges into opportunities.
